CARDIAC CONSULTATION

A consultation is usually requested by your general internist, family doctor or sometimes another specialist or surgeon when he or she wishes to have a cardiac specialist (cardiologist) use his or her expertise to evaluate you.

CARDIAC STRESS TESTING

A cardiac stress test usually involves walking on a treadmill or riding a stationary bike to measure your heart rhythm, blood pressure and breathing are monitored.

ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY

An echocardiogram (echo) is a graphic outline of the heart’s movement. During an echo test, ultrasound (high-frequency sound waves) from a hand-held wand placed on your chest provides pictures of the heart’s valves and chambers and helps the sonographer evaluate the pumping action of the heart.

PACEMAKER MAINTENANCE

Usually, a pacemaker will last for many years. However, if you want it to last for more than five, maintenance is essential. Every pacemaker runs out of battery or malfunctions eventually, but regular maintenance can extend its lifespan and keep you safe.

VASCULAR ULTRASOUND

Vascular ultrasound is the general term for a non-invasive painless test that uses high-frequency sound waves to image blood vessels including arteries and veins. Lower extremity venous ultrasound is typically performed if a clot in the vein (deep venous thrombosis or DVT) is suspected.

CARDIAC CATHETERIZATION

Cardiac catheterization is a procedure used to diagnose and treat certain cardiovascular conditions. During cardiac catheterization, a long thin tube called a catheter is inserted in an artery or vein in your groin, neck or arm and threaded through your blood vessels to your heart.
